Crypt St. Peter/Graz

St Peter’s City Cemetery in Graz was established at the beginning of the 19th century and is owned by the Catholic parish of the Holy Blood, which still manages it today. The extensive green spaces with their trees, rose bushes and benches are not only used for visiting the cemetery but also for relaxing walks.

Family Crypt Eisl

When you walk through the main gate of the beautifully landscaped cemetery, it is best to turn left immediately to walk around the modern funeral parlour and take the path along the cemetery wall. Lined with impressive graves of families known far beyond the borders of Styria, it leads to burial group B7 after approx. 50 metres. There, right next to the wall, on the left in front of the chapel, is the Eisl crypt. An artistically designed angel watches over the memory of the deceased; the crypt itself is closed with a stone slab that can be lifted by four massive iron rings. The bench, designed in the same style, allows you to linger in peace in remembrance.

As the grave had not been actively cared for for some time, it was transferred to the burial society in spring 2017. Renovation and regular maintenance were organised and the restoration work will be completed by the end of 2018.
